TEL AVIV – Defense Minister Israel Yoav Gallant threatened to bombard Lebanon to conditions like living in the “Stone Age”. According to him, it will happen if the Iran-backed Hezbollah group makes a mistake and starts a war against Israel.
During a visit to the Israeli Army command in the north, he said: “I heard our enemies brag about the weapons they are developing. For each such development, we have a better response — by air, sea and land and through other means of attack and defense.”
Gallant is visiting northern Israel for two weeks of “Firm Hand” combat exercises. During the visit, Gallant conducted a joint situation assessment with senior Israeli Army officials.
Gallant assured Israel that his visit and updates from the drills confirmed that his troops were doing well.
“We will know how to defend the citizens of Israel and how to strike our enemies with a decisive blow, God forbid they started a war with us,” he said.
Commenting on the Israeli threats, Secretary General of Hezbollah Hassan Nasrallah said that Israel should withdraw their threats.
“Any mistake can blow up the whole area,” he said.
“I tell the enemy’s prime minister, war minister and army chief to be careful and not make a wrong calculation,” Nasrallah said, noting that Israel was forced to step up its rhetoric after the failure of its latest military campaign in Gaza.
“It is not you who are threatening a great war; we are the ones who would rather threaten you with that,” Nasrallah continued.
“A big war will involve hundreds of thousands of fighters,” he explained, as quoted by Naharnet, Thursday (8/6/2023).
