The Mexican Stock Market (BMV) recorded a profit of 0.32% in its main indicator until reaching the 54 thousand 512.14 unitsthus closing the week with a gain of 2.4%, the largest since the beginning of March.
“In Mexico, the Price and Quotation Index (IPC) of the Mexican Stock Exchange closed the week with a gain of 2.4%the highest since the first week of March”, commented the director of Economic and Financial Analysis of Banco Base, Gabriela Siller.
Of the top 36 companies listed on the index, the analyst explained, 30 posted gains.
Among these stood out Alsea (+8.64%), Cemex (+8.26%), GCC (+7.12%), Peñoles (+7.09%), Gentera (+6.59%), Kimberly-Clark de México (+6.16%), Inbursa (+6.12 %), Alfa (+5.34%), Coca-Cola FEMSA (+4.42%) and Grupo México (+4%).
On the contrary, the specialist highlighted that, on the downside, the losses of Parent company Axtel (-5.57%), Genomma Lab (-4.50%) o Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (-1.29%).
With today’s advance, the index registers an advance of 12.48% so far this year and is positioned a 4.47% far from its all-time high of 56 thousand 536.68 pointsreached on April 1st.
In the session, the peso appreciated a 0.63% against the dollar, when trading at 17.27 units per greenbackafter quoting 17.38 in the previous dayaccording to data from the Bank of Mexico.
The IPC closed the session in 54 thousand 512.14 unitswith a profit of 173.96 points and a positive variation of 0.32% compared to the previous day.
The volume traded in the market reached 256.8 million titles for an amount of 13 thousand 777.9 million pesos.
Of the 503 firms that traded on the day, 188 ended with their prices rising, 288 had losses and 27 closed without changes.
The titles with the greatest upward variation were from the telecommunications services firm Axtel in its series Controladora Axtel (CTAXTEL A), with 7.02%; the Alsea restaurant chain (ALSEA), with 4.69%and the City Express Hotels chain (HCITY), con 3.73%.
In contrast, the largest downward variations were from the household products company Grupo Vasconia (VASCONI), with -13.19%; Grupo Gigante supermarket chain (GIANT), with -6.11%; and the Frisco mining (MFRISCO A-1), with -3.23%.
In the day, the four sectors won, starting with the financial (1.14%)followed by that of frequent consumption (0.58%), industrial (0.36%), and materials (0.25%).
