The media buzz was triggered by the entry of the CEO of Alfa Romeo, Jean-Philippe Imparato, into the hospitality of the Haas team. Since last summer the managers of the Alfa Romeo company formalized the conclusion of the relationship with Sauber (at the end of 2023), various hypotheses have followed on the future of Alfa Romeo in the world of motorsport.
The appointment that Imparato himself made last September was for the month of June 2023, the date on which the plans of the Milanese company would have been announced. In the meantime, various hypotheses have taken shape, among which the return to the world of endurance stands out thanks to a technical partnership with Peugeot.
However, the meeting between Imparato and Gunther Steiner has rekindled the hypothesis that Alfa Romeo may remain in Formula 1, even if at the moment there is no confirmation. The US team does not seem willing to give up the title of the team (as it has been since 2019 in the agreement with Sauber), but would evaluate a possible sponsorship on more traditional channels.

“I had the opportunity to meet Imparato – commented Steiner – we introduced ourselves, and we talked a bit. But I don’t know what they will do in the future. Possibility to collaborate? Never say never, I can’t rule it out, but I can’t even say that there is a negotiation “.
At the moment Haas has an agreement with the financial company Moneygram, title-sponsor of the team with a multi-year agreement. “We have a contract, and it’s a very good partnership – added Steiner – the relationship between the two parties is excellent. As I said, we haven’t talked about any sponsorship with Alfa Romeo, so there is currently no scenario of coexistence with two potential title sponsors. Personally I think they are still evaluating all the possibilities, but that’s just my feeling, and of course I didn’t ask any questions about it.”
