The development team of Final Fantasy XVI has often emphasized how the upcoming action RPG will tell a complete story from start to finish and that, as a story as important as it is complete, there are currently no post-launch DLC planned. However, this last part may not be true according to Yoshida’s words.
Speaking in a recent interview with the Japanese outlet ASCIIthe manufacturer Naoki Yoshida he reiterated that Final Fantasy XVI will allow players to experience the full story, but added that depending on how it is received, post-launch expansions are something the development team”will consider“. Naoki Yoshida stated that:
“First of all, we will release the main game, and if we get positive feedback, we will consider doing something about it. We developed this work with the aim of making it a volume where you can enjoy 100% of the story and battle content if you buy the pack.”
Yoshida also added how in the current era of action games, the developers wished that the players of all generations played and, since they are fans of action games themselves, they thought they’d try to develop a full-fledged action game. But don’t worry, the developers put a lot of effort into making sure that all the fans could experience the best story possible. Also, at one point the development team planned a potential PS4 release but that was canceled for obvious reasons.
Final Fantasy XVI launches on June 22 for PS5.
