Square Enix has started a series of developer messages for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth with the aim of updating the state of development of the second installment of the trilogy that modernizes what is considered by many to be the best game in the saga. In this way, it has been shared a brief description of the world what to expect in this new exclusive PS5 title.
After the producer of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Yoshinori Kitase, ensured that the development of the game “progresses smoothly and according to plan” while they work on “fixing a release date”, the title director, Naoki Hamaguchi, now explains what it will be like to explore the world outside of Midgard now.
“Players will be able to travel through the vast and multifaceted world with a high degree of freedomexperiencing lots of different stories in the path”. In this way, a rather extensive world is anticipated, far from linearity, and with the possibility of offering numerous activities, as well as secondary missions.

Marked as “Developer Comment #2”, it looks like we’ll have some more information coming up over the next few days. In fact, the game has only been shown once, when it was announced around this time last year under the message: “The journey into the unknown continues. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the second game in the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy, will arrive next winter exclusively for PlayStation 5“.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, in early 2024?
If Final Fantasy VII Rebirth ends up releasing next winter should be released between the end of 2023 and the beginning of 2024, a date that seems somewhat close to the arrival of Final Fantasy XVI. In fact, it seems that during these weeks we will not have news of the sequel either so as not to monopolize the attention of the next installment of the main saga. Luckily, we will receive new messages from its developers.
