The Association of Industrial Parks of Jalisco (Apiej) affirmed that the State lost, in the last two years, five projects that implied investments of more than 300 million dollars (MDD) due to the lack of industrial buildings.
One of them was the Quanta Computer, Taiwan company which is dedicated to the manufacture of electronic devices for companies in the automotive sector such as Tesla. He preferred to go to Nuevo León, where he already announced a million-dollar investment.
“It is one of the important factors why Tesla did not stay in Jalisco, and I think that hit us hard, but that is how other suppliers of technology companies have arrived that cannot find space and leave,” admitted Bruno Martínez Zurita, new president of the Apiej.
The executive added that the high cost of land, which ranges from 30 to 100 dollars per square meter, has also been a factor for investors to go to other Entities.
“The El Salto corridor has grown and much of it is due to the ecosystem that exists, but it also has to do with the price of land, which is quite accessible and easy to acquire, unlike other areas,” added the business leader. .
“Today we have had some investments that have decided to go to other Entities due to lack of industrial parks. Mainly companies in the technology sector, advanced manufacturing”, acknowledged the Secretary of Economic Development, Luis Roberto Arechederra.
