Sanctuary, the place where the entire plot of the Diablo saga takes place, is not flat. One of the directors of Diablo 4 makes it clear that it is a planet, with all that that entails.
The launch of Diablo 4 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC has allowed us to expand the lore of this great saga of Blizzard. The open world that Sanctuary has become is now much larger and better structured.
Throughout the different games we have been able to explore the different regions that make up this place located between Heaven and Hell, but until now we have never had very specific data. What exactly is Sanctuary?
What is Diablo 4 Sanctuary?
If you know the entire history of the Diablo saga you will know how this Earth was formed, but now that Diablo 4 has focused on five of its most interesting areas, the Blizzard team wanted to make one thing clear.
Sanctuary is a spherical planet, nothing of a flat world. Harrison Pink, the game’s Senior Mission Designer, puts an end to the “Shrineplanists” speculation by making it clear on Twitter with a short statement.
On this day of Diablo IV I think it might be fun to share this little nugget of knowledge: Sanctuary is a planet. I don’t know if we have ever said it officially or not, but it is 100% a spherical celestial body with at least 1 moon, not a plane with edges.
Of course, Sanctuary is still in its own pocket dimension, created when Inarius and Lilith when they created the world to keep the world stone hidden from prying eyes, pointed out the director of Diablo 4.
