CD Projekt RED is about to lay off about 30 employees who worked on the development and maintenance of Gwent: The Witcher Card Game. The Polish company justifies this decision with the decision to cease support for the digital card game, a choice that has already been announced a few months ago. We remember that Gwent will only be officially supported until the end of 2023after which the game will be handed over to the community.
“During the year we transferred some team members to other projects,” reads a statement published in the official site. “But we have to say goodbye to some of them. By the end of the year, around 30 of the Gwent team will be taking a different path than CD Projekt RED.”
Today’s news is paired with the similar one from two weeks ago, when CD Projekt laid off about half the employees of The Molasses Floodthe US studio working on a spin-off of The Witcher.
