The contribution of the Guadalajara Chamber of Commerce (Canaco) to the economic, political, social and cultural life of the State over the years is invaluable.
Today marks the 135th anniversary of the institution, which is the second oldest in the country after the Chamber of Commerce of Mexico City.
Given this, Raúl Uranga Lamadrid, head of the organization, highlighted the relevance of the Chamber.
He added that the main contribution of Canaco is that in addition to representing business and actively participating in the economic development of the city, it has contributed to the social and cultural aspects, which distinguishes it from any other organization.
For example, 100 years ago it delivered the first equipment for the creation of the Guadalajara fire brigade.
He also highlighted the creation of the International Meeting of Mariachi and Charrería.
Merchants expect higher growth for the second half of the year
After a difficult first half of the year for the sector due to increases in interest rates and rising inflation, the Guadalajara commerce sector expects greater growth for the second half of the year.
Raúl Uranga Lamadrid, president of the Guadalajara Chamber of Commerce (Canaco), explained yesterday that there has already been a drop in inflation, which will lead to a decrease in interest rates.
“Why is the interest rate or inflation important because it is marking a restriction on consumption and for the same merchants to leverage themselves to consolidate their growth plans they are postponing them due to the costs of money,” he commented in an interview within the framework of the 135th anniversary of the Kanak.
He added that during the first semester the city had a tourist dynamism and there were record numbers of visitors to the city and economic benefits.
For the second semester, a series of events is expected that will cause an increase in the number of tourists and economic benefit, such as the GDL Open AKRON WTA, the International Book Fair, Expo Transporte, and the Guadalajara Gay Games, among other major events.
“We have a second semester full of activities that will surely bring great economic benefits to the tourism sector and everything that is reflected in the trade and tourism sector,” he said.
Security, a matter of concern
The leader of the Guadalajara Chamber of Commerce also expressed his concern about the insecurity that exists in the State and the country.
“It is an issue that we have already had communication with the State Government, but the matter is also federal, we are talking about organized crime and we need to greatly improve communication with the federal Government and with security agencies and they are cases that cannot be repeated. repeat itself,” he said yesterday, referring to the young people from the call center who were disappeared and later found dead in Zapopan.
He recognized that the issue of insecurity in some cases has caused the cancellation of events or tourist arrivals regardless of the economic impact, so he called for joint strategies to combat insecurity.
