Eternal love
Love Everlasting is the latest work by Tom King (together with cartoonist Elsa Carter), and its title fits perfectly with the relationship that the screenwriter has built between the two protagonists of this story.
The plot will take place in parallel at three different moments in Selina’s life. The first, when she was a young villain of Gotham City and he shared blows and chats with people as not recommendable as the Joker. That was the time when the romance with Batman It originated when they were both enemies, each one on a different moral side, sharing nights of chases on the rooftops, heated insinuations, kicks and punches, and stolen kisses.
The second, when their love relationship is already established but the arrival of a new character threatens it. Is about Andrea Beaumontwhich we will know better by the name of Ghostan old love that will arrive to sow chaos and discord.
The third moment is after Bruce’s death, with an old (but still pretty and fit) woman. Catwoman who has lived a full and happy life with his partner and the daughter they have had together: Helena Wayneknown by the thugs of the city as Batwoman. Now that Batman is no longer there to control her, Selina will take advantage of her to settle some accounts that she had pending in a way that her husband would not have approved…
King is demanding with the reader and does not let them settle at any time. The narration does not seek to please, but is continually misplaced due to the complexity of keeping the three parallel timelines connected by events that take time to reveal themselves, thus requiring a considerable effort to follow the plot without getting lost. Luckily, this author’s good work makes what in the hands of another could have been a headache here a naturally flowing exciting journey full of great moments.
