the mexican economy received 18 thousand 974 million dollars from its citizens residing abroad between January and April of this yearan interannual increase of 10.1% compared to the same period of the previous year, reported this Thursday the Bank of Mexico (Banxico).
With this, Mexico exceeded the 17,230 million dollars received in the first four months of 2022 by 1,744 million dollars.
By contrast, the average individual remittance between last January and April was 382 dollars, less than the 383 dollars of the same period of 2022.

But the number of operations in this same period grew by 10.24%, going to 49.63 million from a previous figure of 45.02 million, 99% of them electronic transfers.
Only in April, Mexico received five thousand 003 million dollars in remittances, a year-over-year advance of 6.3 percent.
The increase in remittances in 2023 continues with the upward trend marked since March 2020, at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, with 36 months with consecutive year-on-year increases, which is why they represent the main source of external income for the country.

On the other hand, Banxico reported that remittances worth 410 million dollars were sent abroad from Mexico during the first four months of 2023, an annual increase of 6.7 percent.
In 2022, Mexico received a record of 58 thousand 497 million dollars, which implied an increase of 13.4% compared to 2021 and the ninth consecutive annual increase.
