GARUT VOICE – The incident of burning a Muhammadiyah study hall occurred in Sangso Village, Samalanga District, Bireun Regency, Aceh.
The incident that was allegedly carried out by an Unknown Person (OTK) occurred yesterday, Tuesday, May 30, 2023.
According to information from the Chairman of the Aceh Muhammadiyah Regional Board (PWM), A Malik Musa, this action was allegedly the result of a rejection of the construction of the Taqwa Muhammadiyah mosque.
According to him, the rejection occurred on the grounds that there was already a combined jamik mosque from several villages.

Then, because of the high number of rejections, PWM Muhammadiyah Aceh discouraged from building a mosque.
Furthermore, PWM Aceh only built a prayer room starting with a place for ablution and toilet first, as directed by Prof. Muhajir.
“However, after the ablution and toilet facilities were made, this morning the old hall was burned down when people came to the location,” Malik told journalists, Wednesday, May 31, 2023.
He explained, before the construction of the mushala began, PWM Muhammadiyah Aceh had a friendly meeting with religious leaders in the area and was welcomed.
It is hoped that the police will be able to uncover the motives of the perpetrators who set fire to the Muhammadiyah study hall.

“The police must find the person who set the fires, because this incident has happened many times. If we get the person, we can unravel the tangled threads so far,” he said.
He appealed to all residents to exercise restraint and not be provoked by provocateurs who wish to complicate the atmosphere of religious life in Bireuen District, Aceh.
“We must be careful in our behavior, especially fellow Muslims and must be willing to accept differences in worship,” he emphasized.
