Arnold Schwarzenegger’s film career is full of successes, but he also has a few films that flopped at the box office.
After great movies like Conan the Barbarian (1982), Conan the Destroyer (1984), Terminator (1984), Commando (1985), Predator (1987), Total Recall (1990), Kindergarten Cop (1990) and Terminator 2: The Last Judgment (1991), the actor Arnold Schwarzenegger premiered The Last Big Hero (1993). But it received bad reviews and the collection was not all that was expected. Since with a budget of 85 million, it obtained about 137 million, which means that if it managed to be profitable, it was barely.
Now, in the new Netflix documentary series Arnold, the actor has opened up about his reaction to that initial flop. He was despondent and didn’t want to talk to anyone for a few days.
“When Last Action Hero came out, I had peaked after Terminator 2, having the most successful movie of the year worldwide.” Said Arnold Schwarzenegger.
“I can’t tell you how upset I was. It hurts. It hurts your feelings. It is shameful. He didn’t want to see anyone for a week. But you keep going. And my mother-in-law also said this all the time: Let’s keep going. It’s a great message.”
Director James Cameron reveals how he found the actor.
“It looked like she was in bed crying.” James Cameron said. “He took it as a deep blow to his brand. I think he really rocked it. I said, ‘What are you going to do? He said: I am going to confront him alone. That’s the only time I ever heard him depressed.”
