James Wan comments that he had to adapt Aquaman 2 to Gunn’s new plan
James Wan has revealed that he made some changes to aquaman and the lost kingdom to make it fit into James Gunn’s DC Universe.
The changes of Aquaman 2
He Aquaman de Jason Momoa was originally part of DCEU (DC Extended Universe), but the plans for the character have changed with the arrival of Gunn. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, James Wan spoke about the changes that his next film has undergone so that he can adapt to the new DCU. When asked how Aquaman 2 fits Gunn’s universe coming from The Flash, the director replied that some modifications were made to make sense of the DCU.
“I’ve had to make adjustments along the way. The DCU has gone through many different iterations, and one of the most challenging things about this movie was keeping track of what was going on. Fortunately, Aquaman’s universe is pretty far removed from the rest of the world. We go to a lot of different underwater realms that aren’t necessarily related to what happens with the other movies and characters, so we’re independent in that sense. So I can tell my story on its own without being affected too much, but at the same time, I have to be aware of what’s been going on.”
Although nothing is confirmed yet, Wan’s response could indicate that Momoa’s Aquaman will continue after the second part of his film. Gunn has already confirmed that both The Flash and Aquaman 2 will lead up to the first chapter of the new dc universethat is to say, Superman: Legacy. However, it’s still not entirely clear how the old DCEU will connect to Gunn’s new projects.
