MOSCOW – Russian President Vladimir Putin has unique and whimsical tastes that are unusual for a world leader. It cannot be separated because Putin’s childhood and youth were influenced by his association. He is also known to have endemic taste in music, so he often uses slang that is popular among exiles in Russia.
Many analysts suspect that Putin’s tastes influence the policies he takes. It cannot be released because one’s taste will affect the psychological side and mindset.
However, for those who know about Russian and Soviet history, Putin’s tastes are not uncommon. Because it also represents a segment of society in Russia.

1. Popularizing Macho Language

During his years in power, Putin was known for language that cemented his strongman or macho image. He often posts photos of himself shirtless, hunting, fishing, horseback riding and judo.
Not only that, the macho impression is also shown through the style of language he expresses.
“He turned out to be a mighty man, raped 10 women. We all envy him,” Putin said in 2006 after Israeli President Moshe Katsav was accused of raping his female employee.
“They use contraception (condoms),” Putin said in 2011 in response to an opposition rally in which participants wore white ribbons.
“No matter how one acts on the wedding night, the result must be the same,” he said in 2013 about the political consolidation of the European Union.
“We, as martyrs, will go to heaven, and they will only have a voice,” he said in 2018 about the possibility of global nuclear war.
“Like it or not – be patient, my beauty,” he said in 2022 about Ukraine’s refusal to stick to the Minsk agreement, a peace settlement in eastern Ukraine’s Donbas region.
