“Two people receive the Spinoza Prize. That is for fairly fundamental research, such as how black holes work and things like that. The Stevin Prize is for applied research, which has a significant impact on society. I do research into electronics on chips and those chips are in everything. There is that in every phone, and actually in every thing you buy at the Mediamarkt and Bol.com there are chips. That is my job and I am working on it. Things I do end up there, so that has a lot of scientific impact.”
