The first round of the 2023 Junior Extreme Enduro World Championship bears the signature of our Matt Green!! The Serbian GP unfolded in the beautiful woods around Zlatibor, a renowned tourist and ski resort located at an altitude of 1,000 meters with routes characterized by endless stony ground and impervious streams to go uphill and downhill.
The weather in the first two days of competition was very cold and rainy adding extra difficulty to the already challenging course. The format of the race included a prologue held on Wednesday in Zlatibor on an artificial course with boulders, logs and tires.
Matt and Ramon finished 13th and 35th respectively. Matt, on Thursday, the first day of the race, suffered a bit from the adverse weather conditions which didn’t allow him to be particularly incisive, however, closing the day in 13th place. Ramon, in an uphill area full of large boulders, suffered a problem that many other riders had experienced: finding himself with the chain which, deflected by the impact against one of these large boulders, went down and got stuck between the swingarm and sprocket, thus ending his race.
On the second day, Friday, Matt finished with an excellent 9th of the day by catching up with his rival in Junior Brightmore.
Saturday, final day, Matt finished the day 10th by a good margin over Brightmore. The final result sees Matt as a great WINNER of the JUNIOR classification as well as leader of the Championship and a good 11th overall.
Next appointment on May 27-28 in Teramo for the second round of the Italian Extreme Enduro Championship.
