Actor Scott Adkins reveals that there were some ideas that would have made X-Men Origins: Wolverine worse.
After the great success of the first three X-Men movies (2000, 2003 and 2006), I wanted to do solo installments of the best characters. That’s why they started with X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009), but unfortunately it didn’t have the impact it should have.
In a recent interview, Scott Adkins revealed that they had some terrible stuff planned for Deadpool’s version of X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
“I should have done that, yes. I know that I was part of the problem with the first version of Deadpool. But I was just doing what I was told…Ryan wasn’t even there when we shot the Deadpool stuff. I think he was doing something else. When he saw what they were going to do, he must have been very upset, very upset. But I was like: Wait a minute. Because I went there thinking it was going to be the full costume and everything. But there were other versions of that character where I would dress up and come out with some terrible things, too. It could have been even worse. Um, I’m not going to throw anyone under the bus.”
“But… Imagine Deadpool with a fishbowl on his head. Yeah. But listen, they were looking at some ideas, and luckily they didn’t go with that one.”
Remember that Scott Adkins was Ryan Reynolds’ stunt double in the film. So he shot scenes in Weapon XI makeup.

Scott Adkins also revealed the advice that Jean-Claude Van Damme gave him.
When asked if Jean-Claude Van Damme had accidentally hit him on a set, that’s how Scott Adkins answered.
“No, he has good control. Remember that in The Expendables 2, because we were the bad guys, I remember him saying to me: I’ll give you some advice… When you die, you’ll die a hero. And I was like: Yeah, I know what you mean. Okay, thanks, Jean-Claude. I didn’t die a hero because my head was torn off, but he did. But my head was torn off by the blades of that helicopter.”

The movie X-Men Origins: Wolverine only grossed $373 million, but its leading man, Hugh Jackman, was able to reprise that role on other occasions, and Ryan Reynolds also got a chance to play Deadpool well. In addition, both actors will meet once again in Deadpool 3, which will hit theaters in 2024.
