Despite the Draconic flight was tailor-made for the expansion Dragonflight Of World of Warcraftit seems that Blizzard intends to keep the popular feature even when we leave the Dragon Isles behind and, therefore, it will also work in future expansions.
L’associate game director Morgan Day he said to Icy Veins That:
“After seeing the reception from the community, I’m sure there would be a lot of ‘feedback’ if it didn’t become an evergreen element of WoW, so I absolutely think it’s here to stay. There are, however, conversations to be had and problems to be solved in terms of mount collections.”
Draconic Flight effectively replaced mounts flying for Dragonflight’s new zones, offering a much more dynamic way of soaring through the sky, with proper momentum mechanics that actually make flying feel much more ‘realistic’. Day went on to add that:
“The studio doesn’t want to make 95% of your mount collection suddenly seem obsolete. There are a few issues we need to address there in terms of introducing the Dragonrider to older continents, as well as allowing non-Dragonrider mounts to fly Draconic Flight. It is definitely a hotly debated topic within the team, we just want to implement the plan in order to achieve all our goals.”
As Day also pointed out, there are several problems and issues to fix and see if it could work on all mounts. We just have to wait for news and see how the team will handle the flight in the next expansion of World of Warcraft. We remind you that a new update per Dragonflight.
