We are more than clear that if we want to play Final Fantasy XVI we need a PS5 to do it. the new adventure JRPG de Square Enix It will debut exclusively on the Sony system and will even have its own bundle with the console. Now, the Japanese company has revealed the reasons that have led to this exclusivity.
During an interview with GameInformer, producer Naoki Yoshida revealed that “all options” were considered by the Creative Business Unit III studio, as there were quite a few on the table. “When we started development, we approached multiple platforms, multiple companies, to launch the game. And when you approach them, they will come back to us with their offers,” explains the person in charge.
Once the proposals were made by third-party companies, at Square Enix they assessed that the one they liked the most was PlayStation. It is common for the two brands to sign alliances of this type, as they have done so at a historical level, even with the future Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. However, Yoshida assures that you want your games to reach the largest audience possible.
“That being said, from a developer and a programmer perspective, limiting development to one system not only makes it easier for us, but it allows us to optimize it. And that allows us the ability to maximize the performance of that one system because We’re just concentrating on that one system.”
On the other hand, the producer assures that PlayStation has thrown a cable in all the work of creating Final Fantasy XVIand the developers of Sony have helped Creative Business Unit III. “It allows us to create the game we want to create (and) makes it easier for us to do it,” says Yoshida.
