Is a Superman game on the way?
Zaslav highlighted the strength that his video game business currently has thanks to its 11 studios and very talented developers. He stated that one of his strengths is undoubtedly that they have renowned franchises in their hands and that with them they can make very attractive games.
“We may be the only media company that owns it, whether it’s the DC universe, Harry Potter, content we own, Game of Thrones. That’s up to us to develop. I think that’s especially important strategically. “said the manager.
Later, he talked about the success of Hogwarts Legacy, which allows players to step into a fabulous world and have an immersive experience. He hinted that something similar could happen in the future with Superman and his world.
“When we launch a product on Max or HBO, and when we have a game, that game belongs to us (…) Maybe in the next 2 years we will launch a Superman movie and… people spend more time and there are more people just hanging out hang out in the world and the universe of Superman.
“The fact that we own all of that is something that I think is going to be very important going forward: as the technology develops, and given the amount of time people are spending on games, We don’t want to be in the movie and series business and have someone else in the business with those worlds. Those worlds are going to be very profitable in the coming years,” said the manager.
Although there is nothing confirmed for now, we know that James Gunn is already preparing the new superhero movie. It wouldn’t be unreasonable to think that Warner Bros.
