Tribeca Festival 2023 today announced its official games program, celebrating the convergence of games, entertainment and culture. This year’s program includes seven selections that demonstrate the potential of storytelling and innovation through interactive experiences. Each selection is a candidate for Tribeca Games Awardwhich rewards an unreleased game for artistic storytelling excellence.
The program includes the world premieres Of The Expanse: A Telltale Series, prequel to the TV series that puts players in the role of Camina Drummer, played by the actress Cara Gee; Of Stray Godsa role-playing musical that tells a story of hope, of self-discovery and forging one’s own path, and of Nightscape, an atmospheric adventure game inspired by ancient Arab astronomy.

“This year, Tribeca’s games selections feature creators who explore identity, emotion and a sense of place through their games. We are proud to highlight a range of cultural perspectives with exceptional artistry and storytelling by voices from around the world that will captivate audiences and stick with them long after the experience is over.”
Festival-goers will also be able to attend special gaming events and talks, including the special screening Of Hideo Kojima: Connecting Worldsdirected by Glen Milner and produced by Ben Hilton, which takes viewers on a journey into the creative mind of Hideo Kojima, one of the most iconic video game designers. The screening is followed by an extensive Q&A session with Kojima. Telltale Games will also host a panel“Exploring Deep Space: How Telltale and Deck Nine created Expanse Stories in an Interactive Medium” for an in-depth discussion of key factors in capturing the right mood and tone for The Expanse: A Telltale Series.
