In the second leg of the quarter-finals of the Youth championship between Atlético and Real Madrid, Torres and Arbeloa were the protagonists, between insults and pushes. The colchoneros coach was expelled and the Competition Commission sanctioned him with a one-match disqualification.
After what happened, Fernando Torres broke his silence in an interview on the club’s website. “It was a mistake to go into those constant provocations that we had suffered from the previous games,” he commented.
“I don’t like seeing myself like this, it doesn’t represent me. It’s not what I want to convey to the boys and I admit my mistake, but what is clear to me is that I will always defend my boys. Against everything and against everyone and when I see situations that I consider unjust, I go ahead with my own and defend them assuming the consequences”.
He regretted that his performance and that of Arbeloa overshadowed the match: ” What saddens me the most is that the match is not talked about and all this has marred the draw. I admit my mistake, I am a young coach and I want to learn It will help me for the future, but for my club I will always go all the way.”
