ST CLOUD – A female police officer (polwan) in United States of America (US) used a deceased person’s credit card for spree, including a $450 hair treatment.
Policewoman Dianne Ferreira, from St Cloud, Orlando, is known to have spent hundreds of dollars on spree such as beauty treatments, gas stations, meals and hotel stays.
Ferreira obtained a credit card at the home of someone who died on April 3. This was revealed by the Sheriff of Osceola County, Marcos López.
Ferreira also admitted to taking pictures of bank details while responding to emergency medical calls.
Official police records show the 25-year-old policewoman has been detained at the Osceola County Jail on charges of stealing credit card information, fraud and identity theft. But soon after, he was released.
Hired by the St Cloud Police Department (SCPD) in August 2021, he resigned after being questioned as part of the investigation.
SCPD head Douglas Goerke apologized to the victims’ families for Ferreira’s actions, calling it “despicable”.
“I have zero tolerance for officers harming our community or violating its beliefs,” he said, as quoted by The Mirror, Thursday (11/5/2023).
Goerke added his agency was working with deputies, who discovered the credit card charge was made by Ferreira, a patrolling police officer, a day after responding to a death at a house in St Cloud.
