RPGs in different historical contexts are great and for a long time the community has dreamed of an Assassin’s Creed installment that takes us to the Aztec Empire. As it seems that Ubisoft is going to take time to give us a delivery of this type, an independent study went ahead of them with a survival RPG that takes us to the Aztec Empire.
We are talking about Ecumene Aztec, a new survival RPG that will take us to 16th century Mesoamerica. In the project developed by Giantscraft we will put ourselves in the role of a native warrior who has the mission of ending the Spanish conquerors who bring destruction to his civilization.
The study ensures that its project is a survival RPG, so it will be similar to titles like ARK or Valheim. That being said, its reveal trailer has drawn several comparisons to the earlier Assassin’s Creed installments. The above due to its stealth systems that can be seen in its first advance.
“I was not born a fighter, but for a proper bloody sacrifice, Huītzilōpōchtli – warlord, and Quetzalcóatl – great teacher of the people, will lead me to be silent as a serpent, strong as a jaguar and swift as an eagle”, points to the official description of Oecumene Aztec.

As we already mentioned, if there are elements of Oecumene Aztec that are reminiscent of Assassin’s Creed, the reality is that it aims to be another type of game. On its Steam page we can see that we will have to kill conquerors using stealth and also various traps. This is sure to translate into resource gathering and lots of exploration.
It is worth mentioning that the trailer shows that Ecumene Aztec still needs a lot of polishing. That being said, we expect it to improve in the coming years, as its release is scheduled to debut until 2025 on PC.
