Other times they are applications that we have downloaded and that we have not wanted to use. There are dozens of apps available and it could be the case that you have a large number accumulating to no avail. The downside is that while some won’t affect you beyond taking up space, others could be running in the background slowing down your system.
To remove these applications, go to Settings, access the Applications menu and click Manage. Then you just have to download, mark the app that you no longer want to have in the system and select “Uninstall”. The system will inform you of what you have to do and in a few minutes you will have managed to clear all the memory of those applications that you no longer use. After doing so, we recommend you restart the Fire TV as we explain in the next point.
reboot
On your computer, you know that frequent restarts are essential for the system to function properly. The same goes for your Amazon Fire TV Stick, so you have to reboot from time to time to give your device a breath of fresh air. The way to do it is simple. Disconnect the Fire TV from the television, wait a minimum of 10-15 seconds, and then connect it again.
Then you just have to wait a few minutes for it to turn on, with the good news that you don’t need to enter your login details. You don’t have to do a reset on a regular basis, but if you notice that the speed is not adequate or that there is something wrong, it will be important that you do. In addition, when you apply other of the solutions that we are giving you, as we have told you before, it will also be something recommended.
Adjust the video quality
Among the automatic functions of the Amazon Fire TV Stick is configuring the device so that it always provides you with the highest possible image quality. To do this, the terminal takes into account the capacity of your connection to Internet. But as you can already imagine, as much as your connection may theoretically support 4K or even 8K, it’s not always the best option. It could be that the problems are due to it.
To edit the video quality, go to Settings, select Display and Sounds and then Display. In the next menu you will have to choose Video resolution and change to a lower one than the one you have marked. For example, in my case some time ago I found that 4K was preconfigured and, when i changed it to 1080p HDeverything started to work much better.
Change the connection
The connection ports of your television are usually one of the hottest areas of the screen and that is not something that goes well with the Fire TV. With excessive heat it is possible you may experience performance issues of the device or even that it ends up hanging or turning off unexpectedly. Due to this, it is recommended that you move the connection in which the Amazon terminal is located.
The best thing you can do is put it in a socket that is as free of cables as possible, that is on one side and so that air can circulate better. The stick does not have an internal fan, so you should give him all the support possible. If the level of heat that accumulates is extreme, we recommend that you use an HDMI extender so that you can have it further away.
update
Firmware updates are a must for your Amazon Fire TV Stick to work properly. There are many types of updates that your terminal’s operating system can receive, both those that fix serious problems or security holes, and those that only improve performance in minor aspects. In any case, all updates are essential and you should not let them pass you by.
In general, the device itself receives the updates automatically so you don’t have to worry about anything. However, there are times when they don’t arrive, they get lost along the way, or the automatic update process is simply too slow. Therefore, we recommend that you take a look to see if there are any pending updates. You can do it by going to Settings, choosing My Fire TV and going to About. Lastly, you just have to choose the “Check for system updates” option.
Another good idea is that you update the applications. Perhaps you have noticed that the speed problem occurs only when you are moving within a specific app. So, it could be that browsing the Netflix menu is being too slow. That could be because there’s an update to that app that you haven’t done. To check for updates, go to Your Apps & Games, select the app you want to update, and press the Menu button on your controller. Then go to More info and you can see if there is an update available. In the event that it says “Open”, it will mean that there is no update.
Other possible solutions
If you’ve already done all of this and are still having speed issues, there are still things you can do. The first thing is that you clean the cache to see if this solves the incident. In case everything stays the same, try to change the network connection to which you are pairing the device. Perhaps you are not getting as much signal from the WiFi network as you would like. And if all that fails, do not doubt that it may be a good option to do a factory reset, although it is a more complex process that we do not recommend doing lightly.
