Speculations are always everywhere and now a group of fans assume that the story of “The Little Mermaid” was changed so that it comes from a Latin country.
The original story of “The little Mermaid” claims that Ariel is from the Ancient Greece and not from modern times but now it seems that in the new live-action the story was changed. Ariel seems to be Colombian or Venezuelan, fans say, and this rumor has been around for a long time when it was confirmed that the story was going to receive some new changes.
The original songs that Disney introduced to the franchise have a Caribbean flair and they could have told us that from the beginning giving us a kind of “track” that it could be so but none of this made sense until the live-action premiered.
We must be clear that the film (which is currently in theaters) touches on issues in a different way and its director probably decided to set the tone for something more inclusive that we can see with the acclaimed controversy that was when selecting the actress. Halle Bailey like Ariel. Above all that, perhaps the objective of doing it this way was to give it a little color tone so that we understand that the character is more from the Caribbean.
Once all this is known, we go to the most important thing, The Little Mermaid seems not to be from Ancient Greece since in the film Prince Erik tells her that he acquired a figure in Cartagena. If we go to the map this is a city in Colombia, in some scenes you can see how it is dressed in some places like the old places in the area and you can see in the environment that they want to give the tone to something more Caribbean.
The location of Eric’s kingdom is not known, but what is known is that if he gets this gift in Cartagena, he continues to charm Ariel by telling her about his adventures in Venezuela, Colombia and even Peru. As you can see the tweet below alludes to what we are talking about:
Ok according to disni the little mermaid is Colombian and I’m sure from Santa Marta or Cartagena because of the Arhuaca backpack. pic.twitter.com/og93fCxCH7
