Steam It is one of the most widely used platforms in the world by gamers who enjoy on PC. Right now, the Valve platform is running one of its most aggressive and interesting promotions with no less than 2 free Steam games for a limited time and that you can claim to be yours forever. All this, in parallel to the numerous offers that are usually available in the digital store, such as the best historical strategy game at a 90% discount. Now, however, it has been discovered a curiosity that can close your Steam account completely.
It is about a specific word that is completely banned on Steam and that a user has discovered when changing his name. The word in question is “antidisestablishmentarianism”, which stands for anti-disestablishment and its ban is based on opposition to government defunding or sponsorship of a church or state religion. With this curious prohibition, the user in question has completely lost access to their Steam account, which completely disappeared moments after the name change. However, he was able to get it back after contacting Valve to discuss the matter.
Valve is aware of the problem and has returned the affected accounts, although it does not comment on it.
Given the wave of requests and taking into account that the problem went viral in a matter of hours, Valve did not take long to return the affected accounts to their users, although until the time of publication of this article the company has not made any reference to the problem or what exactly caused it. For now, we don’t know if using this word for the username is still banned within Steam, so we recommend you not to use it until Valve confirms that it is a safe name within the digital store.
Undoubtedly, one of the most curious cases that Steam has had to face in recent times, although not the only one, since being the most visited platform, they usually arise most bizarre curiosities.
