The jurisdiction over transits had been moved from the Region to the Municipalities at the end of the last legislature. Now Astuti, from the Democratic Party, is asking for the absolute ban on all motor vehicles to be reinstated

We read in the Prealpina of Varese that the regional councilor of the democratic party Samuele Astuti returns to ask for an absolute and generalized stop to engines on dirt roads and paths. One would like to go back to the starting point like a game of goose.
“The Lombard Council should restore the absolute ban on the transit of motor vehicles on mountain mule tracks as soon as possible” is the request contained in a query filed in recent days, which returns to the question of the amendment to the second law of regulatory regulatory revision 2022, approved at the end of the last legislature.
“An amendment – explains Astuti – wanted by two councilors of the League and amending the decision-making competence on transit permitsmoving it from the Lombardy Region to the mayors. Therefore, the Municipalities will be able to decide how to regulate the use of paths and mule tracksalso allowing the transit of motorbikes for tourist purposes”.
“An eventuality – adds the exponent of the Democratic Party – inconceivable, as such a liberalization of access can cause serious damage to the environment natural mountain landscape, where greater respect for the ecosystem is needed, also through the maintenance of the paths and the cleaning of the riverbeds, and where motocross tracks are certainly not needed”.
So the criticism concerns the “delegation” that the Region has given to the Municipalities to decide on the entry of motorcycles on the trails. The problems associated with the transit of motorbikes on forest paths had also recently been raised by the Varese-based environmental association Amici della Terra.
We expect at this point that the Motorcycling Federation also makes our voice heard.
