Although Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has been a bestseller, the reality is that the community is already thinking about the future and wants to know what’s next for the franchise. Although Activision has not revealed anything about it yet, new information suggests that the new Call of Duty will come out this year and it will be a new Modern Warfare.
According to Insider Gaming sources, the next installment of Call of Duty will arrive this year and it will be a continuation of Modern Warfare 2. As you can imagine, this means that it will be called Modern Warfare 3 and will follow the line of the 2 previous installments.
Originally, Modern Warfare 3 was intended to be “Premium DLC” for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2; however, plans changed. This is how the project developed by Sledgehammer Games became an individual installment that will present a campaign, multiplayer and a zombie mode. Of course, Call of Duty: Warzone 2 will not be left out of this hype and will receive a new map during Season 1 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
It is worth mentioning that although Sledgehammer Games is the main studio behind Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, other Activision studios are supporting its development. This comes as no surprise, as it’s a strategy Activision has followed with the latest installments in the series to ensure quality post-launch support.
