For 15 years, the Marvel Cinematic Universe It has had several references in the form of superheroes. And although all the members of the original Avengers are equally loved, there is one that stands out above the rest: the Iron Man de Robert Downey Jr. His performance as Tony Stark will be remembered by all fans of the franchise, but… What if I told you that the actor was about to choose a completely different role?
According to what the current president of Marvel Kevin Feige and the director of Iron Man Jon Favreau have been able to tell during an interview for the 15th anniversary of the film, the first time they met with the American actor had come from auditioning for another Marvel movie that came out around that time: The Fantastic 4.
And although many think that he could have auditioned to play Reed Richards, the reality is quite different: he came from having auditioned to play Doctor Doom.
“I remember that you had already met with him for Doctor Doom or something like that in another project. I think it was to participate in Fantastic Four, so everyone knew who he was. I remember sitting with him, and I thought: ‘God , he has it, he’s got that spark in him, in his eyes, and he seems to be ready.’ We were in Kevin’s office, pointing to his picture and saying, ‘We’ve got to try and figure this out.'”
It is interesting to note that the actor who played Iron Man for ten years he was previously considered for the role of Doctor Doom. Why do we say this? Well, because in the Marvel comics, Victor Von Doom assumed the legacy of Iron Man at one point in the franchise, as can be seen in the series. Iron Man Infame by Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev, published between 2016 and 2017.
