The first PlayStation Showcase of 2023 has left great announcements, but much more could have always been shown. What have been the great absences of this PS5 and PS VR2 event for us?
There have not been exactly few games that were announced yesterday in the PlayStation Showcase. The future of PS5 and PS VR2 already has a few upcoming releases on the calendar, but an event like this always generates great expectations.
Therefore, it is usually quite normal that Let’s get a little higher imagining what could be shown. Obviously, this PlayStation Showcase has made us dream of announcements that, finally, have not occurred.
So, with things a little calmer, today we wanted to collect some games or projects that were absent in the event of PS5 y PS VR2 that we would have liked to see, but that finally did not appear anywhere.
Because while it is true that we have been dreaming of the Kraven from Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 tonight, we have also been missing some games. Let’s see what they have been the 5 great absences of the PlayStation Showcase 2023.

The Last of Us Factions II or new Naughty Dog game
They say that good things take time to wait, but the truth is that we want to see what you are working on Naughty Dog. Okay, that’s right, their last big game was The Last of Us Part 2, so we give them the benefit of patience.
However, as one of PlayStation’s major flagship studios, many expected this event to be attended by the company; at least, with The Last of Us Factions II, also called the TLOU multiplayer. It couldn’t be and that only makes us want to see it more.
Bloodborne PC and more releases on this platform
The meme is still alive. Bloodborne will continue to be “locked in” to 30fps for a bit longer. Whenever a PlayStation event is announced, Twitter erupts imagining a port de Bloodborne a PC. You already know that it was not announced, as well as new exclusives that make the leap to PC.
The truth is that this could surprise some, since PlayStation is achieving great results with this strategy. Surely a few would have been pleased to see Ghost of Tsushima on PC or even Demon’s Souls.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
Perhaps this was getting on the vine a bit, we admit it. Having Final Fantasy 16 just around the corner, it is logical that Square Enix wanted to reserve Final Fantasy VII Rebirth for later, but dreaming is free.
When the first images of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth were revealed, some questions were raised around Sephiroth that still remain unanswered (can we handle him?). It also remains to be seen how the story will continue after the end of the first part of the remake…
There are many unanswered questions and that is precisely what puts this second part in the spotlight. It’s time to wait, although we can’t think of a better way than taking the opportunity to play Final Fantasy 16.
Sucker Punch and Bend Studio did not sign up for the appointment
Some agree that the PlayStation Showcase should have had some exclusive work from PlayStation Studios. Sucker Punch (Ghost of Tsushima) has not yet shown what new they are working on and Bend Studio (Days Gone), tampoco.
And that the latter stirred the hornet’s nest a bit, hinting that an announcement was close. We have been left wanting. Others who have not spoken either have been Bluepoint Gamescreators of Demon’s Souls Remake or the most recent version of Shadow of the Colossus.
Silent Hill 2 Remake
Konami is back, but in fascicles. While is true that the return of metal gear solid has brought a smile to everyone (with Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater and the classic collection), several players expected something more from Silent Hill 2 Remake.
It was announced a few months ago for PS5 and its presentation did not finish convincing everyone. An event like yesterday’s could have served to clear up doubts and generate even more views on this resurgence of Konami. When will we see more of Silent Hill 2 Remake?
What would you have liked to see at this event? Of course, the PlayStation Showcase had many great announcements such as a number of titles for PS VR2 headed by RE4 Remake, a good look at Dragon’s Dogma 2, the promising Phantom Blade or NEVA, the new from the creators of GRIS.
