On May 26, Taylor Swift premiered the video for “Karma” ft. Ice Spice, ending its “Midnights” era (name of the album released in October 2022). The remix of this song was released on May 25 along with a new version of “Snow On The Beach” with Lana del Rey, and “You’re Loosing Me”, a song that was only available on the CD that was sold that day during his concert.
The video clip of “Karma” ft. Ice Spice is a clear reference to Taylor’s past albums or eras, which makes sense since the singer is currently on tour going through her entire discography.
During the video, Taylor can be seen dressed in black, with dark lipstick and without her trademark bangs, in a dark environment, a clear homage to the look she wore during her “Reputation” era. Other similarities fans have found have been pastel images and romantic settings, a nod to the 2019 album “Lover.” In addition, almost at the beginning Taylor Swift appears characterized as the goddess of justice, an image that she reminded fans of her “Fearless” era due to the presence of the color gold.
Consistent with her tour “The Eras Tour” in which she reviews her entire discography, Taylor Swift paid homage to her past albums in the video clip for “Karma.” EFE/ Sarah Yenesel
At the end of the video clip, Taylor Swift is holding a cup and her thumbnails can be seen painted with black and light blue nail polish, so fans have found this a clue that would indicate that “Reputation” and “1989” would be the next albums to be re-released.
The collaboration between Taylor Swift and Ice Spice has been criticized and branded as a marketing strategy, This is because in the past, Matty Healy (Taylor Swift’s alleged new boyfriend) launched a series of racist comments towards the rapper. Therefore, many fans consider that this collaboration is intended to clean up Taylor’s image.
