In the past few days it has been revealed the bike with which the Suzuki Classic Team will line up in the European Classic Endurance Championship: it is a specimen developed on one of the brand’s most famous models, the Suzuki GSX-R1000K1, or the first edition of the famous Hamamatsu sports car now out of the price lists due to the engine that is not included in the Euro5. Similar work was done in 2017, where the team built a magnificent GSX1100SD racing Katana to participate in the same championship.
Back to today, very little remains of the standard Gixxer: the team have fully tuned the bike for its new role, with the Complete engine rebuildwhich exploits new elements such as the camme Yoshimura and a new complete titanium exhaust system, obviously without the slightest homologation for use on the road. At the cycling level, one stands out new racing swingarm, you look for OZ, Brembo brakes and K-Tech suspension at the rear. The white and blue coloring is also dedicated to the championship, while superstructures and lights remain faithful to the original model on sale since the beginning of the new century. We find the analogue instrumentation, while the saddle recalls that of the MotoGP bikes, with a sort of adhesive padding glued to the fairing. The braking system is signed by Brembo, and has no ABS or other electronic aids. In short, a real “pure and raw” sports car to drive the old-fashioned way!
