Superbike, Catalonia: domination by Alvaro Bautista and Ducati in race-1
Yet another show for Ducati and Alvaro Bautista who won by dominating race-1 of the Catalunya Grand Prix of the Superbike World Championship on the Montmelò circuit.
The race was stopped after three laps due to the crash of the Brazilian of the Honda Eric Granado, carried away on a stretcher, with the Spaniard already in the lead, then after the restart the 38-year-old Castilian completed the job beating the Turkish Yamaha Toprak Razgatlioglu, who got the better of his bitter rival Jonathan Rea, the Northern Irishman of Kawasaki, in the sprint for second place.
Fourth was the best of the Italians, Andrea Locatelli, teammate of Razgatlioglu, while Axel Bassani (Motocorsa Racing Ducati) and Michael Ruben Rinaldi, teammate of Bautista, collided. For Bautista, the reigning world champion, it is the eleventh victory of the season out of 14 between Superpole, Superpole races, race-1 and race-2.
