Three months ago, Alex Hay shared on Reddit that he was “devastated” to hear that Starfield had been delayed from its original release to November 11, 2022.
That meant that most likely he would not be able to play it because he had recently interrupted the treatment for lung cancer that he had been suffering from, unfortunately that has been the case.
“I was a little disappointed with the reveal of the date, I’ve been following this project for years and now it seems that I will not be able to play it,” Hay said on the social network of images.

“I was disappointed by the delay from November, since in September I left the treatment for lung cancer (…) and I expected it as a distraction,” he continued counting.
Hay died shortly after the message, as confirmed by the MacStories community where he was an active and accomplished member. “I’m in hospice now (…) playing Xbox eludes me, but lasting another 6 months is unlikely… Enjoy on my behalf1.”
The Starfield subreddit has been filled with messages from fans saying they name their ships and/or characters after Hay in honor of him, but there are those who have thought of something deeper so that it will be remembered.
