The beautiful statements of Cholito Simeone, when asked about the desire to play football that was born as a child
John Simeon, forward of Napoli, was received in audience with Aurelio De Laurentiis by Pope Francis I himself, in Vatican City. On the sidelines of the visit, the Argentine made some statements shown below in an extract.
Simeon’s words
—
“The ball unites everyone, because football is not just a sport but above all a game. Kids are always happy when they try to make a ball out of whatever they find on the street – I used to do it with socks when I was a kid. Life teaches you this, the road. They are things that change you, unite you. I remember as a child I always wanted to score goals, I chased the ball everywhere. When I was little my father gave me a ball almost immediately, as if he were part of me. Some make it to where I am, and others don’t… but football also teaches us, it makes us capable of believing in something and pursuing it…”
