After a lethargy that seemed eternal, the Silent Hill franchise is finally back. At the end of last year, Konami announced the remake of the second installment and other projects that look very promising. One of them is an interactive series that aims to be a collective experience where users will decide the course of the story.
We are talking about Silent Hill: Ascension, a new proposal by Genvid Entertainment together with Behavior Interactive, Bad Robot Games and Konami. Months after the original announcement, we finally know more, and its makers shared a new trailer that sheds light on the concept and story.

What is Silent Hill: Ascension?
“Silent Hill: Ascension follows multiple main characters from locations around the world who are tormented by terrifying new Silent Hill monsters. From the shadows, these monsters lurk and threaten to consume or devour people, their children and entire villages as they are drawn into the darkness by both recent murders and repressed guilt and fears.
The interesting thing is that “millions of players” will dictate the path that the main plot of this new interactive series will take, which will be part of the official canon of the franchise. Thus, they will be able to decide what the fate of the characters will be and the outcome of the narrative arc. This will be possible thanks to an interactive system that works in real time, which will allow users to make choices and leave their mark.
According to Genvid, not even the developers know the outcome. The series will begin sometime this year, and will feature “daily live story moments where each day is different from the last based on audience actions.” It seems that the broadcast will take place on the official website of the production, pending further official details. It is unknown if it will be viewable from a native application on consoles.
“We went the extra mile to create a dream world in Silent Hill: Ascension with haunting and hyper-detailed characters, otherworldly monsters, immersive atmospheres, and an overall visual and audio design that our team is very proud of,” said Chris Amaral, art director of Bad Robot Games.
But tell us, what do you think of the concept of this unique project? Do you like that it is a series that takes place simultaneously all over the world? Let us read you in the comments.
