KIEV – Senator United States (US) Lindsey Graham said Russia is dying thanks to the support of the American military to Ukraine which he described as “money best spent”.
This was conveyed during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kiev last week.
The South Carolina senator’s comments were to express America’s solidarity with Ukraine amid the ongoing Russian invasion.
Video of Graham’s comments has gone viral on social media.
The United States provided Ukraine with $46.6 billion worth of military aid between January 2022 and February 2023, according to a calculation by the Council on Foreign Relations think tank, which assesses American weapons to play a key role in Ukraine’s state defense.
However, the Republican presidential nominee for the 2024 US presidential election; Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis, questioned the level of American support for Ukraine.
Video of Graham and Zelensky’s meeting was also released by the Presidential Press Service of Ukraine, showing the two having a conversation from across the round table.
Zelensky thanked the senator in English for the support America has shown Ukraine, before declaring: “Free or dead, now we are free.”
Graham interrupted, commenting: “And Russia is dying.”
