The Fallout theme is one of the most attractive in video games because it was able to present a post-nuclear disaster world as imagined at some point in the Cold War. Vault-Tec prepared North American society for the catastrophe thinking about the future and the repopulation of the Earth, however this plan was only a facade of something evil, as revealed by one of the co-creators of the IP.

Fallout Co-Creator Tim Cain Reveals Vault-Tec’s Evil Plans
During an interview with PCGamesN, Tim Cain, co-creator of Fallout, revealed the true plan that Vault-Tec had in mind for the creation of its vaults. According to the creative, the idea of repopulating the world with the survivors of the nuclear disaster was something that was used to convince people and calm their anxiety for the future, but in reality the plan was to leave Earth given the impossibility of physical and social reconstruction: “there is no Earth to return to. The head of the Enclave and the highest levels of government said ‘let’s build a spaceship and take it to the nearby stars’. But that would take forever, so that it has to be a multi-generational spaceship, and the only technology we know how to build is atomic power. So we can make an atomic power plant that helps us build a spaceship for hundreds of years, but we don’t know how to do anything else So the head of Vault-Tec, not being a great person, says why don’t we use the vaults to figure out the technology we’ll need on the ship?”

According to Tim Cain, this led Vault-Tec to consider the vaults as simulators of situations, appealing to the fact that the need of the inmates would lead them to think and develop solutions for specific problems: “tell me if these experiments sound familiar to you. They are going “We’re going to need food, so we’re going to have to figure out how to properly grow plants indoors. We’re also going to have to figure out how to store, we’re going to develop cryogenic chambers and see what happens when we take them out every so often.”
Fans are currently expecting some Fallout 5 announcement after the bittersweet swallow of Fallout 76, and while the game is rumored to be in development, Bethesda has priorities placed on Starfield and The Elder Scrolls VI, so it’s probably a long way to go. the post nuclear disaster adventure.
