MOSCOW – The UR-77 Meteorite is a mine disposal vehicle, designed to clear mines and unexploded ordnance.
This vehicle is very effective in carrying out its duties in a large area.
The Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) has released a video showing the UR-77 Meteorite mine clearance vehicle performing combat work during a special military operation.
According to the commander of the sapper company, the unit’s range of fire could be up to 500 meters. The UR-77 has two payloads 96 meters long, each containing more than a tonne of plastic explosives.
In addition to minefields, Meteorites can also hit enemy forts. Engineers from the Russian Airborne Forces have repeatedly used the unit to perform non-combat tasks, and experience has shown the UR-77 to be equally effective against enemy fortifications.
