The video game industry changed. For better or worse, digital events are becoming more common and popular. The cancellation of E3 2023 seems to be a reflection of this trend. Now, a new clue suggests that both Nintendo and PlayStation are preparing more presentations for this year.

Will there be more PlayStation Showcase and Nintendo Direct in 2023?
This information comes courtesy of the journalist Ethan Gach from the Kotaku portal, who announced through his Twitter account that, according to his sources, both Japanese companies will hold more digital events throughout this year. He refrained from revealing any further details about it, only inviting users to stay tuned in the coming weeks and months.
In addition to these statements, more insiders suggest that at the very least, Sony could hold another high-profile event at some point this year. Colin Moriarty, a former IGN contributor, dropped the possibility of seeing a second PlayStation Showcase in 2023.

We do not know if Nintendo will carry out a Direct in form or if it plans to broadcast an Indie Showcase. In a similar vein, it’s a mystery if Sony will do a PlayStation Showcase or a State of Play. Either way, it’s important to note that these claims lack official confirmation, so we recommend taking them with a grain of salt and waiting for an official announcement.
The last PlayStation Showcase in May was the site of high-profile announcements such as Metal Gear Solid Delta, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Alan Wake 2, although a section of the community was disappointed by the absence of Sony exclusives. On the other hand, the most recent Nintendo Direct took place in February 2023, so thinking that the Japanese company will carry out another one in the near future is far from being a crazy idea.
But tell us, do you think it is feasible for these companies to hold more digital events this year? Let us read you in the comments.
