Grand Theft Auto 6, or whatever Rockstar Games decides to call the next installment of GTA, is one of the most anticipated projects in the world of video games. So far, Rockstar Games hasn’t said when it expects to release it, but new information seems to indicate that the plan is for it to debut in 2024.
As IGN reports, Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, recently released a press release as part of its annual earnings report. In it, he shared a projection of his performance for the next few years and that is where he seems to be hinting that Grand Theft Auto 6 is planned to debut in 2024.
What happens is that Take-Two has a massive projection for the fiscal year 2025, which will start on April 1, 2024 and end on March 31, 2025. According to the company, it will be in that fiscal period when it expects to launch several titles. “revolutionary” that will set new standards for the industry. He also points out that these launches will allow them to get $8 billion in net reserves.
“Looking ahead, the year 2025 is a highly anticipated year for our company. Over the past several years, we have been preparing our business to launch an incredibly strong pipeline of projects that we believe will take our company to even greater levels of success. In fiscal 2025, we look forward to ushering in this new era by launching several game-changing titles that we believe will set new standards in our industry and enable us to achieve more than $800 million in net bookings and more than $1000 million in adjusted unrestricted operating cash flow. We look forward to continuing this momentum by delivering even higher levels of operating results in fiscal 2026 and beyond,” Take-Two said.

A bombshell of the size of Grand Theft Auto is expected
As you can see, Take-Two never mentions Grand Theft Auto or Rockstar Games directly. However, it is clear that it is one of their largest franchises and it is difficult to imagine another that could have a fiscal impact on the industry and in monetary terms for the distributor.
Another point to consider is that Take-Two typically has net bookings close to $3 billion each year. Their most current numbers were $5.3bn in net bookings and that was only possible because they factor in the money generated by Zynga, which it acquired in January 2022. So it would take them buying more huge companies or launching a game the likes of Grand Theft Auto to have that impact.
It is worth mentioning that Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two, declined to comment on whether this theory is correct or not, assuring that Take-Two does not talk about unannounced launches in its tax reports.
We remind you that, until now, the launch window of Grand Theft Auto 6 has not been shared publicly. Therefore, we recommend that you take this information simply as speculation based on data that Take-Two shared.
And you, what do you think about it? Do you think we will see Grand Theft Auto 6 next year? Tell us in the comments.
