Suara.com – Chairman of the High Council of the Democratic Party Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono or SBY responded to the potential for his party to be taken over through efforts to review or PK by the Moeldoko camp.
This response was conveyed by SBY following Denny Indrayana’s statement regarding the PK attempt that was being proposed by Moeldoko.
Previously, the 6th President of the Republic of Indonesia was interested in speaking out about the disclosure of information by Denny Indrayana about the Constitutional Court (MK) going to decide on a closed proportional electoral system.
Another thing that made SBY interested was Denny’s statement regarding PK Moeldoko at the Supreme Court (MA), which described that the Democratic Party was very likely to be taken over by Moeldoko.

Regarding PK Moeldoko at the Supreme Court, SBY admitted that last night he received a call from a former minister conveying messages from senior politicians (not from the Democratic Party) regarding PK Moeldoko.
“I often receive messages like this. Don’t think it’s serious that the Democrats will be taken over,” SBY said in a written statement, Sunday (28/5/2023).
According to SBY, based on common sense, it was difficult for PK Moeldoko to be granted by the Supreme Court because KSP Moeldoko had lost in court 16 times.
“If this happens, the information that there are political hands to harass the Democrats so they can’t take part in the 2024 election is probably true. This is very bad news,” he said.
SBY said, as Chair of the Democratic Party’s Upper House, he hoped that those in power (political and legal) would remain trustworthy, uphold truth and justice.

“Indonesia is not a predator country (the strong prey on the weak) and does not follow the law of the jungle-the strong win, the weak always lose,” he said.
He ordered the cadres of the Democratic Party throughout the country to follow the development of PK Moeldoko while asking for the help of the Almighty God, Allah Swt.
“Follow the General Chair’s instructions. If justice does not come, we have the right to fight for it peacefully and constitutionally,” said SBY.
Questioning the Electoral System
Meanwhile with regard to the election system, SBY said, if what was conveyed by Prof. Denny Indrayana is reliable that the Constitutional Court will establish a closed proportional system and not an open proportional system as is currently in effect, then this will become a big issue in the world of politics in Indonesia.
There were three things that were conveyed by SBY related to the electoral system that the MK wanted to decide on. The chairman of the Democrat Party’s Council of Highs is of the view that what he is conveying is also a question for the majority of the Indonesian people and the majority of political parties. Election observers and democracy are no exception.
SBY’s first question to the Constitutional Court was whether there was an urgency and emergency so that the election system was changed when the election process had started?
“Remember, the DCS (Provisional Candidate List) has just been handed over to the KPU. Changing the election system in the middle of the road can cause chaos,” said SBY.
Continuing to the second question to the Constitutional Court, SBY asked, is it true that the Open Election System Law contradicts the constitution?
“According to the constitution, the domain and authority of the Constitutional Court is to assess whether a law is against the constitution, and not to determine which law is most appropriate ~ Closed or Open Electoral System?” asked SBY.
He said that if the Constitutional Court did not have a strong argument that an open election system is contrary to the constitution so that it is changed to a closed one, the majority of the people will find it difficult to accept it.
“Remember, all state institutions including the President, DPR and MK must be equally accountable before the people,” said SBY.
Third, continued SBY, actually the determination of the law on the election system is in the hands of the president and the DPR, not in the hands of the MK.
“The president and DPR should have a say in this matter. The majority of political parties have expressed their stance against changing the open system to a closed one. This must be heard,” he said.
SBY believes that in compiling the DCS, political parties and candidates assume that the election system has not been changed, it remains an open system. If in the middle of the road it is changed by the Constitutional Court, it becomes a serious problem.
“KPU and political parties must be ready to manage this crisis. Hopefully it will not interfere with the implementation of the 2024 election. Poor people,” said SBY.
Leaks by Denny Indrayana
Previously, Professor of Constitutional Law Denny Indrayana revealed important information obtained on Sunday padj. He disclosed information that the Constitutional Court or MK would decide on a legislative election returning to a closed proportional system or re-electing party symbols.
This information is known through a written statement from Denny, which he also conveyed through uploads on his personal Instagram account @dennyindrayana99.
“The information states, the composition of the decision is 6 to 3 dissenting,” wrote Denny, Sunday (28/5/2023).
The Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights for 2011-2014 did not reveal where the information came from. He only emphasizes that the person who is the source is someone he trusts.
“Who is the source? A person whose credibility I really trust, who is definitely not a Constitutional justice,” said Denny.
Denny then mentioned that Indonesia would return to the New Order era, if indeed the Constitutional Court decided that the election would return to a closed proportional system.
“So, we return to the New Order election system: authoritarian and corrupt. The KPK is controlled, the leaders tend to have problems who are rewarded with a 1 year extension of office,” said Denny.
Denny alluded to the Denokrat Party’s coup attempt by the Presidential Chief of Staff, Moeldoko. He also alluded to the risk of Anies Baswedan’s presidential nomination failing, in line with the Democratic Party’s coup plans.
“PK Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko, over the Democratic Party, was allegedly exchanged with the judicial mafia corruption case at the Supreme Court. If the Democrats are successful in being “pickpocketed”, as Gus Romi PPP said, then Anies Baswedan’s presidential nomination will almost certainly fail,” said Denny.
“Is there still hope? What is certain is that we will continue to strive, while waiting for miracles,” he said.
Separately, PAN Secretary General Eddy Soparno claimed to have heard something similar. However, based on the information he obtained, a closed proportional election system will be implemented in the 2029 election, not for 2024.
“What I got is the information that it will be closed, but it will take effect in 2029. Not (with retroactive effect). It will take effect as of 2029. That is the information I got,” he told reporters.
