Some Netflix series suffer from the “roller coaster effect”: they are short-lived hits that end up in the drawer of oblivion in a few weeks.
We live in a time in which the world has accelerated in such a way that it is simply impossible to be able to consume everything that is put before our eyes. It also assumes that successes are short-lived and that, for example, many series from Netflix have to cede the throne so quickly that many forget about them shortly after their release.

The series created by Debora Cahn He earned critical and public favor with his look into the ins and outs of American politics. The audience figures were overwhelming. This original Netflix led the top 10 for two weeks, something Nielsen confirms with its data for the week of April 24-30 (via Variety).
However, the fall of La Diplomática was almost as dizzying as its meteoric rise to the top of the ratings charts.
Fast consumption and something else, the frequent trend on Netflix
If we look at the weekly progression of the series in the Netflix Top 10, which is published with less delay than the Nielsen figures, we see that The Diplomatic had a peak of two weeks: the one of its premiere and the following.
After that peak, the series began to decline until it completely disappeared from the ranking, devoured by novelties like Queen Charlotte or by people who have seen the two seasons of The Bridgertons again.
It’s also what tends to happen with Netflix full season releases: they make it easy to watch the entire season and rack up numbers in a short space of time.
This does not always happen, of course. Another successful Netflix series, The Night Agent, has remained in the Top 10 on the platform since its premiere, and has already accumulated nine weeks in the ranking.
The Diplomat is a great Netflix series that has had fleeting success, but it’s well worth it if you haven’t seen it yet and are on the hunt for a new political thriller to devour.
