Actress Priyanka Chopra had to put money out of her pocket to get out of a Bollywood production where she was treated in a dehumanizing way.
Priyanka Chopra has become one of the biggest stars in Hollywood thanks to her participation in movies like Baywatch: Baywatch (2017) and Matrix Resurrections (2021), but we’ve also seen her in the Quantico and Citadel series. But the beginnings of this Indian-born actress were in Bollywood and she has now revealed an anecdote that happened to her almost 20 years ago.
In a recent interview with The Zoe Report, the actress explained that she used her own money to walk out on a set with a demeaning crew.
“I’m undercover, I’m seducing the guy, obviously that’s what girls do when they’re undercover. But I’m seducing the guy and you have to take off one piece of clothing at a time. I wanted to layer up. The filmmaker said: No, I need to see his underwear. Otherwise, why is anyone coming to see this movie?
“He didn’t tell me. He told the stylist that he was in front of me. It was such a dehumanizing moment. It was a feeling of, I am nothing other than how I can be used, my art is not important, what I contribute is not important.”
Overhearing the director’s comment indirectly, Chopra Jonas, with her father’s guidance, decided to leave the project. After participating in just two days of work, she stood her ground and took money out of her pocket to pay the production back for the money they had spent. “I just couldn’t look at it every day.” Said Priyanka Chopra.

Since the incident, Chopra Jonas has appeared in 80 productions, including her latest roles in the spy thriller series Citadel and the romantic comedy Love Again. He also has several interesting projects like Cowboy Ninja Viking, where he will coincide with Chris Pratt. Ending Things, which follows a contract killer who wants to get out of the business along with her partner. Sheela which is the story of Sheela Ambalal Patel who became Ma Anand Sheela, one of the leaders of the controversial Rajneesh movement during the 1980s who used illegal tactics to silence local dissidents in Oregon. Other of his projects are Jee Le Zaraa and Heads of State, although for now we don’t have much data.
