With the month of June about to start, Blizzard wanted to present the news of Overwatch 2 to celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride for another year, remembering that the goal of the game was always “to create a futuristic world worth fighting for and in which everyone feels recognized and welcome.” In this way, to make it easier for all players to connect with the heroes of the universe, the company has announced two new characters that belong to the LGBTQ+ community.
After it was revealed that Tracer was a lesbian and Soldier: 76 was revealed to be gay, Lifeweaver represented the pansexual community. Now, after years of speculation about the Baptiste and Pharah’s sexual orientationBlizzard is happy to publish a new short story starring both characters to deepen their identities and themselves.
While it is true that part of the community is against labeling characters the same as people, the Overwatch team has been encouraged to confirm that Baptiste is bisexual and Pharah is lesbian to continue to make players feel identified with the heroes.
Now, Overwatch 2 kicks off June with Pride inspired cosmetics, with a series of cards and icons inspired by the flags of the LGBTQ+ community. Likewise, a new photo of Tracer and his partner, Emily, has been hung in the Observatory Barracks: Gibraltar.
Overwatch 2 will not have a story mode
Just a few weeks ago, Blizzard canceled Overwatch 2’s story mode, the biggest novelty of the sequel that was going to present numerous stories in the most traditional way you would expect through cooperative missions. However, the developer later explained the reasons that led it to make that decision, promising new PvE events and many surprises throughout the upcoming upcoming seasons to avoid the disappointment of the players.
Overwatch 2 is found disponible en PS5, PS4, Xbox Series, Xbox One y Nintendo Switch.
