Wednesday Addams was a hit on Netflix. It is not surprising that Jenna Ortega’s series is now a priority for the streaming service.
Netflix Has Big News About The Future Of Wednesday Addams. The creators of the series have stated that season 2 will expand on Jenna Ortega’s Latino heritage. Based on the Addams Family franchise, the show premiered on the streaming platform last November 2022. The series was a massive success for the North American company and garnered two Golden Globe nominations. Its renewal was announced as soon as just two months later.
The Latino origins of the character will be explored in season 2 of Jenna Ortega’s television series
In an interview with IndieWire, creators Miles Millar and Al Gough have confirmed that the second season of Wednesday will expand the Latino origin of the main character. Miles Millar has explained that more ways to explore the girl’s heritage will be sought, since her father, Gomez Addams, is Latino. And the Netflix series will explore more aspects of her upbringing. “It is very rare to find an iconic Latino character of this magnitude,” said the filmmaker. “We try to find ways to bring it out authentically. What did she listen to when she was little? What would Gomez play? And finding moments where we could really make her feel like a girl who grew up in New Jersey with a Latino father. How would that resonate with her as a teenager? We’re certainly looking for more ways to explore that this season.”
Although few details have been released about the second season of Wednesday Addams, it likely won’t be released until 2024 at the earliest. Especially because of the delays caused by the Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike. Despite this, the first season of the Netflix series launched Jenna Ortega to stardom and made her one of the few Latina actresses currently starring in a major television series in Hollywood.
