Hollywood news is marked by the ubiquitous strike of the Writers Guild of America (WGA), which is affecting series of all kinds, including upcoming episodes of The Sandman, Netflix’s adaptation of the prolific comics of Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth y Mike Dringenberg.
The return of the series starring Tom Sturridge like Dream of the eternal it will probably be delayed by the writers’ strike. Netflix took its time to confirm the renewal of The Sandman, but now it will be up to the platform to be the one to wait for an agreement between the WGA and the studios.
Neil Gaiman himself, who is affiliated with the union, has been answering some questions about the strike and how it will affect the arrival of new episodes of The Sandman.
Let’s remember that Netflix does not define the future of the series as “season 2”, but rather considers the return of Dream of the Eternals and their brothers as “new episodes”.
The Sandman will be delayed, most likely, by the strike
Through Tumblr, Neil Gaiman has answered one of the many questions related to the Netflix series and the writers’ strike in the United States. Like many fans, he is concerned about how the production of new episodes will be affected by the writers’ stoppages.
“Whether or not The Sandman is delayed depends on how long the strike lasts. And there will be no scab scripts in the series,” Gaiman responded.
The dart to the scabs comes from the question itself, where the fan shows concern at the idea that Netflix will continue with the series with scripts by writers who are not following the strike.
Today marks a week since the start of the writers’ strike, and it seems that there is no probable agreement in sight between the union and the producers.
Luckily for fans of The Sandman, they are already quiet about waiting: first for the arrival of the series and then for its renewal in Netflix.
