The Spanish rider spoke about the DNA of his MotoGP bike and clarified some aspects which, according to him, should be improved

In an article from Motorsport-Total.com there are some interesting statements by Aleix Espargaro who speaks and explains because Aprilia manages to be competitive in practice but not as competitive in the race.
In Jerez Aleix has centered the pole but in the race things are not going very well: zero podi between sprints and races.
“Il DNA of Aprilia – explained the driver born in 1989 – is to release the brakes and drive at a good speed cornering. you can do it when you drive alone. That’s why we are sometimes ahead in the free practice sessions and we are very fast, but the Sunday it’s a different story. I am very happy to be very fast when I drive alone in practice. But it’s not just about that.”
And of what then? Aleix clarified some of the difficulties he encounters in the race: “We have to improve on Sunday, I have to ride aggressively in order to overtake“.
In one area, the Aprilia is not at the level of the others, according to Aleix
“Must close the trajectory, get up early and accelerate. You have to fight and overcome the other drivers. In this compound the Aprilia is not on the same level as the competition. We have to work on this.”
“Our biggest problem it’s the feeling with the front wheel. I am not able to brake well and I can not close the trajectories as others do. We also need a little more torque from the engine, it would help us to be able to do a little more stop-and-go.”
Then an example on KTM: “Brad and KTM are doing much better than us. They are not as fast as the Aprilias on Fridays and Saturdays, but they beat us every Sunday. We need to figure out how to solve this problem. I have to congratulate KTM because what they are doing is amazing, crazy. But I feel that my bike is better than theirs. This makes it even more frustrating. Their bike allows the riders to race aggressively.”
